How is the Chinese New Year celebrated? Growing up, I only knew that it was 15 days but had no clue what the 15 days meant. I also knew that it had something to do with animals because Chinese restaurants gave out those little calendars with animals on them. It stopped there, and I never gave it a thought. As an adult, I learned that Chinese New Year began with the New moon on the first day of the first lunar month and ended on the Full moon 15 days later.
